This is his third year, and that's the year you usually see the big jump in a player. He has done nothing but get worse. He looks lost and confused out there most of the time. He seldom shows good touch on underneath passes. Makes some of the dumbest throws ever.

I'm not sure if I'd rather have him or VY. That is how bad he is man.
He also led a 70 yard drive to win the game last week.

Im not saying the guy is a great QB, im just saying its too early to give up on him.

Lets also look at how they handle themselves. Stafford has put in a lot of time already for Detroit reportedly and Russell is consistently late for team meetings, and even has missed some. He's just terrible the whole way round. Russell won't have the career of Jeff George.

    I'm voting Jim Druckenmiller.

So you guys think the Raiders should just cut their #1 pick, who they paid all that money on?

He has played less than two full seasons, to cut him now would be irresponsible.
In two years if he hasn't got any better, yeah you have to cut ties, but you have to give him a decent chance to succeed.
The Raiders offense is terrible, he has no real WR options, his best RB cant stay off IR. At least give him a chance to earn some of the money spent.

Wheter he sucks or not, Kiffin still knows better than to challenge Al Davis. That is waht this is about; The owner pays the bills, you cant just go out and not do waht he wants done. Kiffin knew that Davis is nuts, he knew what he was getting into, and still chose to defy him.

Its not about how good Russell is, it was bout falling in line.
Everyone knew that Kiffin was wanting to get the boot there. I don't blame him. Falling in line would have gotten slightly better or the same as what they finished last year but he would have had to come back for the same garbage this year and maybe next until Davis found some other coaches career to try and destroy.

Why even go there then, if he just wanted to get fired?

He had the chance to lead a turn around of a terrible team, and just gave up.

You don't have to cut him. They should have kept Garcia there and started him. Keeping Russell out on the field and letting him play this horribly isn't going to help him at all. Sit him aside and let him learn some more.

That being said I'm not real sure that there is any more upside to him. He's just not that good.

He would never get any better not playing.
His biggest problems are not problems fixable by more time off the field.

He struggles throwing the ball under pressure and letting the ball go, he can only learn to improve those under game situations.

It is gonna take something like that to break the Jerry Jones's and Al Davis's of the world.

Plus it was Kiffin's career on the line out there, I don't blame him for sticking with his guns and doing what he thought was right.

I didn't say he went there wanting to get fired. People in that profession think they can fix anything. I'm sure Monte, Carroll and everyone else he knew told him what a psycho Davis was but of course he like most people thought "It'll be different with me.". Davis should just save money, not hire a coach, and be on the sidelines to destroy the team in person instead of from the owners box.
